Materials

Wednesday 5th April

Looking into the materials behind the trades, we tend to see lots of piping chains and rope used in each of the industries. From being on the farm and thinking about the common materials found, I immediately think of thick blue rope, rusty old chained and piping wrapped around the metal frames leading to drinking trays which allow the water to be transporting from the tap to the water trays.

With this memory and the link this project has with nostalgia, I wanted to incorporate these into my work. Gathering blue rope from the farm was easy, as we have plenty of the rope which isn’t in use, however chains and piping was more difficult. Therefore, I decided to purchase the chain and piping from the local B&Q STORE.
